Program Curriculum

Utilizes a functional life skills curriculum which teaches skills in the following content areas:

- Expressive and receptive communication
- Functional academics
- Daily living skills
- Motor skills
- Recreation and leisure
- Vocational skills
- School and community participation
- Social skills
                     

  • Provides an individualized curriculum for each student based on his/her unique strengths and needs

  • Employs detailed and structured procedures for data collection and curriculum monitoring

  • Promotes active problem solving to ensure student progress in the desired direction

  • Incorporates regularly scheduled educational clinics with program staff and parents for the purpose of:

    • Selecting new skill acquisition programs

    • Monitoring curriculum and problem solving for programs in which progress is not going in the desired direction

    • Identifying generalization opportunities

  • Provides inclusion opportunities in Ivymount’s Basic Program as well as opportunities to participate in extra-curricular activities such as art, music, and running club

  • Offers a variety of community and vocational training programs based on age and participation requirements
