Employment/Training Information

It is the philosophy of the Ivymount Autism Program that students with autism will succeed in their education programs when they are taught by instructors who are highly trained in applied behavior analysis.  In order to support this philosophy, the program has developed an extensive staff training and professional development package which includes:

Didactic training focusing on:

- Program model
- Applied behavior analysis
- Specific teaching and prompting strategies
- Behavior reduction procedures

  • One to one training in the classroom with a senior staff member

  • Professional training in physical management techniques

  • Progressive evaluations throughout the training process

  • Individual professional development meetings to develop and monitor progress on personal goals and objectives

  • Advanced training series focusing on higher level instructional skills

  • Additional professional development opportunities

    • Journal club

    • Research Committee

    • Attendance and presentations at local and national conferences

Every spring the Autism Program recruits employees and conducts informational interviews for the upcoming school year.
