A Curriculum in How We Grow and Change

During the 2005-06 school year, Ivymount collaborated with other professionals and educators to field test an exciting new sexuality
education curriculum called Life Cycle ©. It teaches human sexuality and sexual abuse prevention through the study of the human life cycle--including
physical, social, emotional, and sexual development--from birth through death. This curriculum is designed to meet the educational needs of students
with developmental delays or significant reading disabilities. While the course targets middle and high school students with developmental disabilities,
the curriculum can be adapted to serve other populations, including mentally retarded adults.

The curriculum has been taught over the past eight years at Ivymount School and has been enthusiastically received by students, parents, and special
education professionals. We plan to publish and market this curriculum. However, prior to doing so, we are asking the professional community to field test it.
