Return to School Plan

The Ivymount School and Programs team is committed to returning students to campus in a way that protects the health and safety of employees, students, and their families. We are working diligently on plans for multiple scenarios, including hybrid models that involve both in-person and remote instruction. We will update this page and communicate by email as we develop the plan.

Planning is taking place on numerous fronts:

  • We are making modifications to the building that will prioritize health and safety for students and staff, and that will meet social distancing, cleaning, ventilation and other guidelines from the CDC and Maryland Department of Health.
  • As we did with remote instruction, we are gathering feedback from our families to better understand their needs and concerns during this planning process. In our reopening survey, parents and caregivers will provide input on schedules, instruction modalities, top concerns and more.
  • The Ivymount Staff Services department is developing detailed guidance for employees and making plans for training, which will occur before students return to school. Staff and families will be asked to sign an Oath of Personal Responsibility that outlines our joint obligations to follow safety guidelines.

Our Ivymount Return to School Pledge captures our overall commitment to health and safety.

Ivymount’s responsibilities are three fold: to offer a model and creative learning environment where all students can achieve their highest level of development; to support families in their efforts to make intelligent, thoughtful choices for their children; and to take a leadership role in the community and the field of special education
