In April, Ivymount was proud to recognize Autism Acceptance and Advocacy Month and celebrate the unique perspectives and talents of autistic individuals. By embracing and valuing our differences, Ivymount has always strived to create a more understanding world for everyone.
Students across Ivymount School marked the month with confidence-building lessons, creative projects, and classroom conversations about identity. As Nolan, a Post High School student, reminds us: “You can do great things if you have autism. I know I have. You are never alone in the world of autism.”

Post High School Students Explore Disability Awareness in Mind, Body, Action Class
The Mental Health team taught a class in PHS called Mind, Body, Action or MBA for short. MBA focuses mostly on boundaries, relationships, and interactions with others. During this class, students were given potential impacts of their disability (e.g., mobility, difficulty with flexibility, understanding what others say) and asked to rate the level of impact. The overall goal is to enhance students’ understanding and self-advocacy for when they eventually exit Ivymount.

“My dream for the future is to have a world where everyone is understood.” – Ivymount Student
Recognizing Community Jobsite Partners
We are grateful for jobsite partners like CVS Health, which help Ivymount students grow, thrive, and belong. Inclusive workplaces drive innovation, inspire staff, and create opportunities for people of all abilities.
