Back-to-School Nights Build Strong Connections

Ivymount School and Maddux School recently welcomed families for their annual Back-to-School Night events, providing an opportunity to strengthen home-school partnerships, meet educators and specialists, and learn more about the year ahead.

At Ivymount School’s information fair, staff from Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Mental Health, Adapted Physical Education, Expressive Arts, Transition Services, and Speech Pathology shared resources and practical strategies to support learning and development beyond the school day. Families then visited classrooms to connect with teachers and staff and learn about daily schedules, communication methods, classroom routines, and academic goals.

This year’s event also included remarks from Tamar Levenberg, parent co-chair with Tricia Duncan, of the Ivymount Foundation Gala coming up on November 21. Tamar welcomed families and shared how parent and community support invests in staff excellence and student outcomes.

Maddux Marks an Important Milestone

At Maddux School, parents gathered to learn about the exciting year ahead, including a significant milestone for the school: the launch of its new third-grade program. Third grade parents had the opportunity to visit the new classroom and see firsthand how Maddux is growing to meet the needs of students. The addition of third grade marks the first step in Maddux’s planned expansion through fifth grade over the coming years.

Before parents joined their student’s classroom presentations, School Director Jenny Engel welcomed families and highlighted the importance of partnership between home and school. Attendees also heard from members of Maddux’s related services team, including speech-language pathologists and occupational therapists, who discussed the integrated support they provide throughout the school day. Representatives from the Maddux Parent Association shared ways families can connect with one another and become involved in the school community.

Together, both events reflected a shared commitment to collaboration and community building.
