With blue caps and beaming faces, second grade students at The Maddux School joined with their proud families and staff to mark their educational journey so far and their transition to the next chapter.
School Director Jenny Engel remarked that she remembered her first meeting with each student and marveled at their perseverance and growth across their time at Maddux. She thanked families for their commitment to building a strong community, and staff for their passion and dedication to students and education.
Throughout the school year, The Maddux School promotes strong academics along with communication and social skills with the goal to lay the foundation for student success in any school or community environment.
Students each took the podium to describe their favorite memories, how they’ve changed and what advice they have for other Maddux students. Enjoy these second-grader sentiments:
“At Maddux, I have become creative, responsible, and a good friend. When I first came to Maddux, it was hard to color but now I am a really good artist.”
“At Maddux, I have become smart, athletic, and stronger. When I first came to Maddux, it was hard to pay attention, but now it’s easier to focus.”
“At Maddux, I have become focused, responsible and a hard worker. When I first came to Maddux, it was hard to write, but now it’s easier. My advice to Maddux students is to never give up!”
“At Maddux, I have become creative, flexible and more intelligent. When I first came to Maddux, it was hard to ask for help, but now I ask whenever I need it. My advice is to be okay when something doesn’t go your way.”
“At Maddux, I have become smart, creative, and a scientist. When I first came to Maddux, it was hard to do math, but now it feels easier!”
“At Maddux, I have become a good listener, a role model and a better reader. I am excited to meet new friends at my new school.”
“At Maddux, I have become flexible, kind and an author. My advice to Maddux students is to always try your best and don’t give up!”
