Students Envision Futures at Aspire Career Fair

Ivymount School’s Aspire High School Program recently hosted its second Career Fair, continuing to expand opportunities for students to explore future career paths in a meaningful, hands-on way.

The fair welcomed 13 local professionals who volunteered their morning to speak with students about their jobs, workplace environments, interests, and career journeys. Volunteers included former students, staff, and family members.

Aspire staff members Alyssa Yeager, Jennie Kampf, Victoria Keenan, Mandy Verme, Rebecca Schwartzmann, Melissa Dogum, Neziha Umitli, Julia Donovan, and Dani Evans spent several weeks preparing students for the event. Students learned about different careers in advance, created question lists, and reviewed career previews so they could confidently engage with at least three professionals during the fair.

Local Workforce Programs Share Postsecondary Possibilities

Students also learned about training and employment resources from Montgomery College’s Workforce Development Program, the University of the District of Columbia Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning, WorkSource Montgomery (American Job Center), and Project SEARCH. These organizations provided valuable information about postsecondary programs and employment supports.

The event gave students the opportunity to practice communication skills, learn from professionals, and consider potential futures. The second annual Career Fair built on the success of the 2024 inaugural fair and continues to be a meaningful experience for students as they plan for life after high school.
